Newly Crowned Miss Rodeo Canada

The Miss Rodeo Canada pageant is held yearly in conjunction with the Canadian Finals Rodeo in Edmonton. This year, there were 7 contestants representing different rodeo communities in Western Canada - a marked increase in the number of competitors from the previous year's event. Congratulations to the organizing committee and the outgoing Miss Rodeo Canada, Shannon McCarthy, on successfully breathing new life into the pageant.

The new Miss Rodeo Canada, Jennifer Bird, represents the historical ranching district of Okotoks, just south of Calgary, AB. Jennifer grew up on a mixed farming and ranching operation in southern Alberta and is a spokesperson and promoter for Alberta Beef Producers. She is a proud Canadian and dedicated to staying involved in rodeo, ranching and rural life on as many different levels as possible. Canadian Cowboy Country had the pleasure of spending some time with Jennifer at CFR. She is a delightful young woman and we are confident she will be a tremendous ambassador for rodeo in Canada!

Then, he won the Futurity and earned a first-place paycheque of $175,000, plus an additional $13,304.38 for NRHA Gelding Incentive Award AND additional day money, putting him well over the million dollar mark.
