Who's Hot

April - May 2009

“Man of Steel” Back in the Saddle Again

Pick up man Jeff Resch is swinging back into the saddle again after suffering a broken neck in a vehicle crash last year. “It feels great,” Resch said in a phone interview. “I’m filling out my rodeo calendar already.”

He’s also counting his blessings as he has no restrictions to his range of motion, plus he got a really cool scar on his neck when surgeons went in and fused the C5 and C6 vertebrae with titanium, officially making him a man of steel.
Another blessing he and his wife, Sandy, are counting is the Jan. 23 birth of their new baby girl, Haley Marie, (7 lb., 4 oz.), a sister for Megan, 4, and Cole, two-and-a-half.

Resch has been picking up in Olds to get his horses and himself back into shape. His first official gig is March 7 at the Roughstock only rodeo in Stettler, Alta. He’ll be in the arena with veteran pick up man Jim Kelts (1984 Canadian Saddle Bronc Champion and four-time NFR contender) to pull riders and flanks off Stan Weatherly’s broncs.

Resch will be taking his experienced horses; Ace, Zip, Hightower and Moose.

His first CPRA rodeo will be Bonnyville Pro Rodeo, May 22 – 24, where he will again be teamed up with his twin brother, Jason, to Resch-cue cowboys. From then on he’s right back in the thick of it with a book full of pro rodeos. Welcome back, cowboy.
