Congratulations to Eckville, AB’s own Mellisa Hollingsworth-Richards who won Olympic bronze in the women’s skeleton at the Torino Olympics. Mellisa dominated the World Cup circuit this year posting top-three finishes in all seven races. With speeds topping 120 kilometres an hour, skeleton is considered the most death defying of all the sliding sports.

On hand to greet Mellisa at the finish was her husband, former Olympic participant (Rodeo - Salt Lake City 2002) Billy Richards. Special thanks to Mellisa’s aunt and uncle, Cheryl and John Gelinas, for sending us the photograph from Torino.
