Jim Peace

Jim Peace has been playing and performing, mostly in the Calgary region, for more than 20 years, most recently a lead guitar player for the group Latigo. This is his first solo effort, a collection of his own original songs of the Canadian West.

Jim’s pleasant voice and guitar are enhanced by his own banjo, mandolin and harmonica tracks, while Chris Shauer and John Buckley add vocal harmonies. John also plays bass and Sharkey Shauer’s dobro creates a tasteful backdrop.

Jim has also co-written six tracks with other noted Canadian wordsmiths such as Buddy Gale, Mereline Griffith, Gord Peterson, John Buckley and the late Glen Rafuse. The only track he didn’t have a hand in writing is Tom Russell’s The Basque and the traditional Amazing Grace, a nice instrumental. A lot of the history of the Canadian West is covered in songs such as The Cyclone — a dramatic look back at Tom Three Persons’ legendary ride on the fabled bronc. All in all, a nicely produced project with some great photos and artwork.
