30 Years of Stony Plain
Compilation Three-Disc set

This impressive collection of some of the best Stony Plain Records productions is not completely western in its content; in fact, it covers folk, blues and R&B, and some great western swing. Direct from the vaults, this compilation contains two and a half hours of music. In the last 30 years, the label has released about 325 albums. In the mid ‘80s Ian Tyson’s landmark work Cowboyography became Stony Plain’s first platinum CD.
Among my personal favourites are tracks from Corb Lund, Ian Tyson, Gary Fjellgaard and Valdy, Cindy Church, Emmy Lou Harris, Doug Sahm and Amos Garrett.
What you get are two audio discs and a bonus DVD containing the Stony Plain story, some interesting studio footage and ten music videos including Corb Lund’s Hair in my Eyes like a Highland Steer. What also makes the set worth having for me is the beautifully filmed video of Ian Tyson’s wonderful song The Wonder of it All. Also worth noting on the DVD is This October Day from Cindy Church and Amos Garrett’s Poor Fool Like Me.
Two full audio discs and a DVD on everything you wanted to know about Stony Plain’s stable of artists.
