Each year the Stampede adds something new, and in 2006 two new shows reflecting our fascination with the West have been added. Maintaining their vision of preserving and promoting western heritage and values, the Stampede created the new Western Photo Gallery, which showcases two areas: a Photo Gallery and a Photo Competition. The Best of Show award is sponsored by Canadian Cowboy Country magazine.

For the competition, photographers could enter four categories: Western People, Western Lifestyle, Western Landscape and Western Wildlife. From the over 250 submitted entries the judges chose 75 images to feature. The images were then digitized and set to music, so visitors can view them in a special viewing tent. As well, winners of each category are invited to submit their entries for sale in the Gallery.
The Gallery provides a venue for photographers to sell their limited edition fine art photography. The main subject of any submitted image must fall within the four categories of the competition. The images displayed on these pages are from the Gallery, and both framed and unframed pictures are available for purchase. Knowing how inspiring great photographs are, the Gallery is hosting guest speakers who will be presenting on photography-related topics. If you would like to improve your photography skills make sure to take in these informative talks.
